Public money is moving. Get on the lists before the tenders drop.

A $1 billion municipal fund, a $768.6 million federal award and a $34 billion transit line all say the same thing: owners are choosing partners now.

In one week: Canada and Ontario put $1 billion behind municipalities that skip development charges, PCL won a $768.6 million federal science campus in Ottawa, and Metrolinx confirmed the Ontario Line's budget has reached $34 billion. Public owners are writing cheques, under more scrutiny than ever. Both halves of that sentence are marketing instructions.

What happened

Servicing money is heading to municipalities that move quickly, a major federal award is about to cascade into trade packages for months, and megaproject budgets are being examined line by line. Owners under scrutiny pick partners whose track record is published and verifiable.

If you are a general contractor

Scrutinised owners shortlist firms they can verify in ten minutes.

  • Publish project pages with real numbers: value band, schedule performance, safety record, references.
  • Be findable by sector and region, because "institutional general contractor" plus your city is a search that happens before every list is drawn.
  • Keep a current credentials package one click from your homepage.

If you are a trade or specialty contractor

A $768.6 million award becomes hundreds of packages. Estimators search for you by trade and region.

  • Build one page per trade and region you want to win, with package sizes and past GCs named where you can.
  • Introduce yourself to the winning GCs' preconstruction teams now, before the bid invitations go out.
  • Show bonding capacity and workforce depth. That is what gets a new sub onto a public job.

If you install glass and glazing

Transit stations, campuses and civic buildings all carry serious envelope and interior glazing scope.

  • Publish curtain wall and institutional glazing project pages with specs and photography.
  • Keep spec-ready documentation downloadable, because envelope consultants check before they call.
  • Watch public tender feeds weekly and be pre-known to the GCs who chase them.

The part most companies skip

Being qualified is not the same as being findable. The firms that publish their proof now are the ones the estimators already know when the packages drop.

That was the free advice. The full plan is a conversation.
